Blaine Long (born November 12, 1975 in Parkersburg, West Virginia) grew up listening to the sounds of the Beatles, The Police, Johnny Cash, Arlo Guthrie and Rod Stewart. He began singing and playing guitar in high school with a few garage bands but became serious about songwriting in 1993. Jones Fracture, his Tempe-based band (rock-pop-blues), was formed in 1994 and played regionally for 8 years. The band broke up in 2002 after having released Oxygen (1999) and All the Options (2001). Growing tired of screaming from the stage, he left rock and roll sounds and returned to a more personal, singer/songwriter style releasing solo albums: South of Jarvis (2003), Slip 250 (2005), Hubcapdiamondstarhalo (2007)and Ten Miles Wide (2008). He has played bars, coffee houses and private parties in Tempe & Flagstaff, AZ, Boulder, CO, San Diego, Redlands and Riverside, CA. Blaine is at his best when playing multiple-set shows and can hold a crowdâs interest for hours. His music is often compared to that of Tom Petty, Counting Crows with hints of Bob Dylan and Van Morrison. He is first and foremost a songwriter and performer. Blaineâs shows are more than a presentation of songs, they are an experience akin to hanging out with him at home. To enjoy a Blaine Long show is to get a warm combination of your favorite comedian and acoustic artist. Currently solo, Blaine takes the stage with quick wit and songs that are more storytelling improv than anything else. Blaine is honest and raw and thatâs what makes his show so worthwhile and his songs an expression of beauty captured in verse.
