(ID 601570)
Angular, discordant and uncompromising postpunk debut from these Ohio basement dwellers.

6 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Math Rock, ROCK: Punk

Details:
We're proud to present the debut cd release for Kent, Ohio's SWEETHEART. This young and uncompromising band, follows in the footsteps of highly influential Ohio pioneers, Harriet The Spy and Party Of Helicopters with a powerful, haunting and dynamic post-hardcore ep. Fueled by dueling, technical guitar dialogue and soaring vocal harmonies, this young quartet blends heavy punk rock, math and indie influences, with the obligatory occasional jam into instrumental territory.

This six song disc collects their hard to find self released 7" ep, four previously unreleased tracks and a plethora of enhanced live video features for viewing on PC or Mac. All tracks have been carefully remastered by punk & metal godfather, Scott Hull at Visceral Sound (PG.99, Pig Destroyer, SUNN). Serious nods to notable bands such as Party Of Helicopters, Blood Brothers, Hot Cross and Shellac.

Released in February 2005. Full length CD/LP coming in late 2005!

Here's what the international press community had to say about this graceful and explosive debut:

"Chock full of dissonant yet memorable musical passages and laced with luscious jam-band prowess, this Kent, OH-based quartet showcase a knack for writing powerful riffs that collide with contagious choruses, all while maintaining a strong level of cleverness and ingenuity. If you dig screamo or today's brand of punk rock, Sweetheart is right up your alley." - Mike SOS, Skratch Magazine, March 2005

"Heart-stopping arrangements and a visceral emotion reflected in voice and barraging music." - Wade Coggeshall, Indiana Journal Review

"The EP pits the frantic burn victim mentality of brutal metal against the sensitive swells of indie rock, kinda like getting warm and fuzzy on the couch with Fugazi, or Will Oldham interpreting Iron Maiden without the sacred tablature." - Kevin Elliott, Columbus Alive

"A solid release for sure and it's bound to provide lots of listening pleasure over the years. Yeah, it's good." - Jim, Mashnote.net (Belgium)

" 'Art Is Dead Is Dead' is predominantly appealing in that it is genuine to the core, and full of raw emotion. The music and the vocals are packed with feeling and quality that can't be denied. I'd recommend this album to anything breathing, as I feel very strongly about both the band and the label." - SceneItAll.net
