"...a jangly marvel with a bittersweet story to tell and one of the catchiest tunes you'll hear coming out of North Carolina this year." - Record Exchange Music Monitor

Tad Dreis recorded his latest CD, Play to Remember, at home in Chapel Hill NC, on days off between legs of his 2004 tour which covered eighteen states over the course of one hundred eleven shows.

The resulting eleven songs span Americana and Anglophilia, folk and power pop, while showcasing Tad's lyrical eye for relationships, the music life, and the random. Play to Remember also features a bonus track remixed by Steven "The Applejuice Kid" Levitin, who played drums on the record's full-band songs.

"Play To Remember" is the followup to Tad's 2003 release "Solitaire For Two," whose song "Good For You" won second place in L.A.'s Songlounge.com songwriting contest, against international competition.

"Good For You" was also selected as listeners' weekly favorite on NPR.com's "All Songs Considered - Open Mic" survey. While promoting this album, Tad was invited to perform on the PBS folk music show "Carolina Calling," hosted by Arthur Smith. Previous guests on the show have included Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson.

Prior to "Solitaire," Dreis released "Yours Asleep," his first self-production, in 2001. That record was the result of sessions begun during his senior year in college at UNC Chapel Hill, which he attended as a Morehead Scholar, majoring in Music and French.

"Ah, young love. Today he's rapturously watching her sleep. Later, he'll be grumbling about the kind of peanut butter she insists on buying or the amount of time she spends on the phone with her mom. But for now, we are firmly in power pop territory, where all heartbreak melts before an irresistible tide of jangly guitars and infatuation." - Splendid E-zine
