With their original "lounge-rock" sound and a unique brand of quirky geekitude, the band aims to chill you out, rock your world, and maybe even protect you from zombies. AnaKataCombo has a sound that is jazzy, ecclectic, and thoughtfully musical, yet energized with the power of solid rock.
AnaKataCombo began in 2005 as a "creative ensemble" at McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul, MN. Andrew found Jason who had known Mark for years and (after the loss of more than a few drummers) Cole and Joe were recruited to complete the band you hear today. Five distinct and passionate musical personalities drive AnaKataCombo to make music that people will love.
AnaKataCombo aims to inspire people as much as keep them in that lounge-rockinâ mood. Without a dominant social or political agenda, the band presents positive and interesting notions of life, love, self-realization, superheroes, and extra-dimensional travel. The band draws inspiration from a variety of favorite musical artists as well as from fantastical books and movies, role-playing and video games, comic-books, and various life experiences which may or may not include time travel and the slaying of the undead.
AnaKataCombo released a full length album, "If Once" (the first in a long line of legendary 21st century recordings), on June 27th, 2008.
What does the future hold for AnaKataCombo? Small tours are always in the works and the band's greater aspirations include becoming big in Japan and being the first band to hold a concert on the moon. With a refreshingly original sound, a drive to create great songs, and the faculties to breed man-eating squid, AKC is a band you really ought to hear.
