Welcome to the chronicles of Troy Lewis aka P.O.E.T the Next Revolution.
Born in Newark, NJ Moved to Connecticut at the age of 3 until both grandparents passed which brought him back to Newark, NJ at the age of 11. He has two sisters, six brothers, 1 precious daughter, 2 step children, 2 step grandson and a wife who loves and supports him.
Weequahic H.S. is where the journey silently began. Besides running track, President of Beta Alpha Sigma and the Yearbook Committee; Poetry was in the Soul after being inspire by Amiri Baraka, Saul Williams, Maya Angelo.
After graduating high school, P.O.E.T worked and wrote poetry. In between the streets he still had time to write. (It's a lonely World when you think the streets love you back). In 2001 is where he was given a chance @ Mrs. G's Lounge in East Orange, NJ to spit poetry.After a few weeks of poetry P.O.E.T fell back in the streets only to realize that his only true love is for the art of words. Getting his life together, P.O.E.T got another start in 2006 at Club 111 opening up for a comedy show for Roz G, Hamburger, and some other local comedians. From there it was Nuyorican Poetry Cafe in NY, Rob Hyltons Mango's Reggae Cafe, Club Dynasty, Full Spectrum, Gallman's Studio, Afrikan Spectrum Studios and few other local venues.
Having recently relocated to Durham, NC â Bull City with a feeling of being welcomed into their world. From Feb. 2007âOct. 2007, P.O.E.T has met and performed with local poets at The Red Onion in Durham. He has also blessed the airways of WXDU 88.7FM with Tim Jackson and Monica Daye on an open mic poetry session which aired every Friday. He has transformed a city to see his vision.
P.O.E.T is coming with the fire. He currently has a CD released âUprooted Treesâ, you can hear his CD on www.myspace.com/castortroyxr3, and he has a book published through LuLu.Com âDiary of a Black Nationâ; both items are available to purchase. Jan.31,2009 he will be releasing his 2nd album "Bubblegum & Rebels" The Movement Album.
