This musical comedy documentary tells the story of fictional, larger than life blues legend "Potbelly."
6 MP3 Songs in this album (44:12) !
Related styles: BLUES: Delta Style, SPOKEN WORD: Musical Comedy
People who are interested in Robert Johnson The Rutles SpınÌal Tap should consider this download.
Details:
"This Is Spinal Tap" meets "Deep Blues."
Here for the first time is the story of a fictional blues legend who was not only larger than life, but larger than most mid-sized passenger vehicles. Potbelly's story is told in documentary form with Paul Ray narrating the story, performing all character voices and performing "Potbelly Tunes."
A "Library of Congress Field Recording" is also found on this CD. Much in the style of early 20th Century recordings of such unknowns as Muddy Waters and Son House, the actual Library of Congress thought this was so hilarious, they made a special file for it in the Leadbelly archives. So if you're a librarian, this will crack your ass up.
Paul Ray is a Chicago area blues guitarist, sometime humorist, and full time working stiff. He recently returned from a trip to Russia, and would like to arrange for a Potbelly performance there someday.
Though Potbelly's death is described vaguely in the documentary, the author is still not clear as to whether Potbelly should be dead or not. However, it having been established that he was born in 1915, were he alive, his time would now clearly be running out.
