Rick Hoyrup started his music career early, playing dances and pubâs at the tender age of 15. By the age of 16, he caught the eye of Ed Yorke, and was hired to play studio guitar sessions at Blue Wave studios, where he met owner Tom Lavin of The powder blues band.

His talent led him to attract well known management teams such as Peter Karroll, and Sam Feldman, which landed him one of the top club acts during the 80âs, featuring the bands, Arch Angel and Special Guest. Rick played with high caliber musicians such as, kevin Mackenzie of Damn the Diva, Peter Oulster of Lee Aaron, and Brent Olsen, one of the current top country artists with the Brent Lee Band.

During the last decade and a half, Rick has recorded with Zombie Roof at Red Stripe studios. He also continued to expand his musical abilities by training with Collin Jarman. Rick has taught guitar privately, and has taught in various music stores. He has performed locally in several band projects, namely, Medicating Kelly, and the Black Jack Blues band, whoâs music is played on the Television show Canadian Biker.
Recently, Rick has written Jingles, commercials, and guitar parts for high profile companies, and has written solo pieces for local bands.

In 2005 Rick met his wife Carla Masse. Carla had also been involved in the business end of the music industry, since the mid 80âs, managing original bands such as, Elvin Screamer, Crazy Mary, and Digging the Void. She dedicated her time to the original projects, working out of many Vancouver studios including, Little Mountain Sound, BullFrog, and worked with Fabrizo Delmonte at the Rock House. She also marketed and promoted bands such as Hitân Run, Ground Control, and Daveâs Not Here.

Together, Rick and Carla have formed a dynamic dual, co-writing Tonefixxâs debut album. They are currently starting another project with their band Witchpolly. They are now heading up a new company, Melody Music productions, which offers services in song writing, co-writing, commercials and production.
