The Bastards - The History

The Bastards, started life as a band in the working class hole of the world, Wakefield - Yorkshire, England in the early 80's. Formed in high school at 13 years old, a true English punk band raised on; the Pistols, Clash, Automatics, UK Subs, Buzzcocks and a heavy dose of The Ramones.

In 1988 with the average age of the band only 18! The Bastards signed a development deal with Island Music UK ..

" Even though we had a cool A&R guy (Nigel Coxon) we still got fucked over like everyone else, due to the crap UK music scene at the end of the 80's, when dance bubble gum make was all the rage". Daz

The Bastards packed their bags and moved to LA. In 1990 they self financed (from Touring and Merchandise sales) a five track ep: Meet The Bastards. During 1994 Meet The Bastards made The Bastards the buzz of the industry.

LA Weekly called them: "The UK's number 1 punk band".

Germany's premier punk radio station proclaimed: "We've seen the future of English punk and it's The Bastards!"

In the midst of all this attention and praise .. and just like their hero's ... The Bastards crashed and burned... On the eve of signing a major label deal they imploded.

" Too young, too dumb, too poor and too much cheap Ralph's brand vodka. In the end we just decided fuck 'em all. We grew tired of all of the major label assholes."!!!.. Hooligan

9 years away .... and now back re-united, ready to finish what they started .. older, wiser and no longer poor !

The New Album: Old Fat & Sweaty!

The Bastards present Old Fat & Sweaty 14 tracks that punk out like old school. ....

"Early in 2002 we got approached by Brian McClaren to do a re-union tour in Japan. From that came the idea to do a full album. I'm proud of the fact we completed a record sober.. well, almost" ... Mike

Working with young Grammy Award Winning producer Greg Hayes (Limp Bizkit, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Black Flag, Warren Zevon) at Cherokee and Clear Lake Audio Studios during 2002 & 2003 The Bastards re-recorded 4 of the original tracks from Meet The Bastards and added 10 new songs. Old Fat & Sweaty is a full frontal wall of sound assault that is destined to connect with Punks young and old alike.

"We can still drive a room full of zit-faced, pogo dancing, glue sniffing nut cases crazy. We worked hard to capture that emotion and "fuck you" intensity on disc"!... Daz.

Based upon what's happened to the music scene in the last 5+ years, the emergence of Punk as (dare we say it) main stream music....we believe The Bastards are needed now more than ever. The filth and fury of punk has been castrated. POP PUNK!!! two words never meant to be said together. Poor Sid Vicious must be turning in his grave. It's time to kick some BlinkSum182Charlotte ass!
Brian McClaren - President, Little Bastard Records
