You'll see all types in Fayetteville or Fayette-nam as some call it. It's a tough town, it's a military town. Its streets are lined with strip clubs and pawn shops, used up trailer parks and churches. Oh Yeah, there's lots of churches in Fayetteville, because there is a lot to pray about. It's a melting pot of soldiers, strippers, bikers, and factory workers. And out of this mix comes The Fifth. A potent distillation of all its hometown ingredients, the Fifth promise and deliver one thing in their music: Honesty! In a town like Fayetteville, that's all you have. The people here can see through you, "they'll sniff out a poser in seconds", said singer Roy Cathey, and he should know! He's seen the world from the perch of a MCA record deal with 90's short lived band named "Cold Sweat". Fed up with the charade that is the music business. Cathey returned to North Carolina in 2001 and once again heard the music in his head. He decided to gather up his three musical soul mates, D.C. Garcia on guitar, Rob Lee on drums, and the B-Man on bass. And so they locked themselves away and started jamming, starting writing, started to become a band. With their "sold out" debut show, a buzz was started that has not stopped. More shows were booked and attendance doubled and sometimes tripled as word of mouth spread about the band. They produced a debut E.P. that quickly sold out. The bands T-Shirts and stickers are a common sight in the Southeast region, their award winning web sight averages 20k hits a month. In Dec. 2003 they released their first full length CD, "Plead", which has been called "so good it's almost scary." The Fifth has built a strong following from VA to SC, but because their fans come from all walks of life, their music has been taken all over the world. From soldiers fighting for freedom in Iraq to people off the coast of Greece relaxing. With their hard riffs and melodic vocals they are sure to make all those in their wake PLEAD THE FIFTH.
