Seattle's Here & Now Trio proves that jazz is alive and thriving in the hands of a younger generation of musicians. Ben Roseth (alto sax), David Dawda (bass) and Sean Hutchinson (drums)---all Seattle natives---have packed in an impressive level of accomplishment in their relatively brief careers. And they display a healthy ambition in their choice of format (the saxophone trio), a context that demands creativity and focused group interplay.

Each member of the group has studied and performed with members of today's jazz elite. Ben is currently studying with Jerry Bergonzi, David with Mike Richmond, and Sean with Terry Lynne Carrington. Among them, they have played in such prestigious venues as Lincoln Center, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival, as well as the clubs Smoke and The Blue Note.

The group draws on all the music that surrounded them during their upbringing, while never losing sight of the jazz tradition. They incorporate hip-hop, Brazilian, Cuban, and avant-garde styles into music that essentially comes out of the tradition of Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and Thelonious Monk. They've done their homework, but now they're looking to the horizon.
