Chancie Neal picked up her first guitar September 2007, and almost immediately began writing songs. Her first original song entitled âYou Drive Me Crazyâ won her the 2008 Dixie Horizon Entertainer of the Year. Writing songs has been the highlight of a budding career in country music for the fourteen year old. Her self-titled CD includes eight of her original songs.
Chancie was inspired while on a vacation with her family to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Coming home, they stopped in Chattanooga where she saw two girls playing the guitar and singing. She immediately said, âMom, I think I can do that!â A few months later, her parents bought her first guitar.
Chancieâs parents, Tony and Kim Neal, are very supportive of whatever she chooses to do. She has a younger sister named Chesnie who also shares Chancieâs musical interest. Chancie also has an older sister, Jossie, who provides a lot of inspiration for her songs. âIf a guy walks in our house, heâll probably get a song written about himâ, says Chancie. Although Chancie has dreams of one day moving to Nashville and becoming a country music recording artist, she loves her small hometown of Calhoun, Louisiana. In the meantime, she spends most of her time writing songs, playing soccer and softball, and competing in rodeos.
