The band:

Taking its name from a US Government sponsored medicinal cigarette during the Vietnam War and Seattleâs legendary Layne Staley who passed in 2002. Park Layne has a variety of musical influences many of which were popular during the grunge era originating in the Pacific Northwest. Park Layne attributes rock icons such as Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Three Days Grace, Stone Temple Pilots and Godsmack among its many influences. Through their music you can hear the band also tips its hat to other American songwriters such as Jimi Hendrix and the Allman Brothers.

The band started to take form in 2006 when songwriter/guitarist Shane Cheselske and long-time friend, vocalist Chad Browning, talked about following their dream. Chad moved back to Fresno, CA after living up north for a couple of years.

After auditioning several drummers out of a cousinâs house and coming up short, Shane and Chad convinced another long-time friend Brandon Hart join them on their endeavor. Soon after Brandonâs acceptance the trio set out to find their bass player.

While the band began writing originals and sifting though influential covers to sharpen their chops and get them where they needed to begin playing out, another long-time friend guitarist, Mike Tavarez would come by and play with the band. The three existing members talked amongst themselves and decided having two guitarists in the band would offer a distinct sound and advantage that is not often seen. With this in mind, the trio asked Mike to join Park Layne as a member of the band. Mike excited at the opportunity to do what he loves with his friends gladly accepted which made the band one step closer to completion.

The band continued on their path to find the right bass player for the band and searched for several months. They came across Mike Elwinger who was able to fulfill the role as the fifth member and completed the band.

Once they band was complete they finished writng enough originals to play at local bars and clubs around Fresno. After several months of playing around Fresno, Park Layne has created a buzz for themselves and have added to the already talented group of bands in the Central Valley.

In September of 2008, the band recorded their first EP at Wolf Audio Engineering in Fresno, CA. The recording went smoothly with Peter Wolf at the helm; recording, mixing and co-producing Park Layne's first EP.

In January of 2009 a decision was made by the band and Park Layne made some adjustments. They have since replaced their existing bass player with Mike Keeney. He brings to the band knowledge, talent and stage presence that the band has been seeking. He has played in previous bands such as: SIK, Ammune, Six Ounce Gloves and Skarfist.

The band, once again is complete and ready for anything. Park Layne isn't afraid to blend old sounds with new, and does so with flavor and skill. Chad Browningâs songs radiate human warmth rarely heard in today's popular music. The words reflect everyday reality. Park Layne plays rock music, but Tavarezâs guitar solos and Shaneâs octave runs evoke a sprit of the by-gone rock/alternative/grunge era. The result is the energetic sound of a rock band carrying on an American Rock tradition.
