Brian Payne and Parker Ferrell, the founders of Xanadu, share a rare musical union. After playing together since childhood they have fused to become a single musical creature with one mind and four hands. For about five years Parker and Brian played as a duo exploring and enjoying the most remote possibilities of just two acoustic guitars but they would soon be enticed by the energy of a full band. Joining forces with drummer Joseph Wright and bassist Alex Winters did just the trick. The energy that the band brought to the stage was profound and the whole of Tulsa (the bands home town) began to take notice. The music was fun and accessible enough to awake the dancing spirit in every listener. Folks of all ages, shapes, sizes and shades could be found dancing at a Xanadu show. Yet the music was still sophisticated and consummate enough to bring the band numerous awards and nominations (Satellite battle of the bands and Spot, âMost improved bandâ to name a few). This album âI Wish There Was A Way Back Homeâ tries to capture the spirit of a live xanadu show while still realizing the restrictions and capabilities of the studio. Listeners will not be disappointed with this fun, thoughtful album.
