Details:
"Dirty & Hairy" is a product of labor and love for Austin musician Troy Dillinger. After nearly two years recovering from what should've been a fatal accident while on tour, this is the 'lucky' 7th release for Dillinger in his 20 year career.

This recording marks a departure from his established Rolling Stones influenced roots-rock sound of the last dozen years. It features Austin legends Barry 'Frosty' Smith on drums, Bruce Salmon on synth, and Mack McNabb at the producer's helm and on several instruments.

The songs were written mostly in 2002-2003, while he was on tour with Austin musican Bob Schneider, while recovering from a head injury sustained in a rollover accident during a solo tour of the western US, and as he recovered from a near-fatal bout with pneumonia later that year. "I was forced to grow as a result of those experiences, and it coincided with Bob introducing me to the Flaming Lips music which encouraged me to look at what I was doing musically in a different way," explains Dillinger.

Dillinger credits the huge stylistic change to the new perspective he gained as a result of his near-death experiences and to McNabb's production, in which he was challenged to represent his songs in a way he would never have attempted before. "Mack pushed me to 'throw away the book' and make an recording that challenged all my ideas about how I approach music. It was a scary and fun time and I hope it makes everyone who hears it as happy to be alive as I was to make it."
