One of the most wonderful things about ragtime is that it is still a living musical form; there are many composers writing ragtime tunes today. Larisa Migachyov is one of them. The rags on this disc were all composed between 2006 and 2008, and reflect the many moods and emotions that can be expressed in ragtime.
Larisa Migachyov was born in Russia, and began composing at the age of 5. She discovered ragtime in 2005, after seeing a San Antonio Ragtime Society flyer at the local health-food store (another testament to the importance of health food), and premiered her first composition, "The Purple Chicken Rag" at the 2006 Scott Joplin Festival. She has composed 19 rags so far, and shows no signs of stopping.
