Velvet Tongue is an up-and-coming, alternative band based in San Diego. The band was formed in the spring of 2003 and began playing shows in the fall of that same year. The band entered the Studio at King's Ransom Records and emerged with their first six-song EP entitled "Down and in". The three-piece has composed and performed an all-original set and has continued to gain momentum and a following with their edgy style and catchy feel. With lots of local radio play and support, Velvet Tongue has recently re-entered the studio to track live and release their first full-length album due out October 20th, 2004.

It has been said: Guitarist and Lead Vocalist, Jude has a deliberate style and an extreme persona. Always edgy and somewhat dirty and dark, his lyrics offer the listener a keyhole glimpse into his world. His CD collection includes The Stones, The Pixies, early Rod Stewart and Jeff Buckley, but his approach to writing is un-influenced by anything but his vision of what Velvet Tongue is.

It has been said: As the bassist, pianist and harmonic vocalist of Velvet Tongue, Allison brings a dark but straightforward quality to the music. A classically trained musician, she has a vested interest in augmenting the ideals that all three share for the sound of Velvet Tongue. Her bass lines are indicative of her past, but what comes through is the dedication to the true and separate sound of the current project. Her influences include and are not limited to only the bassists of The Cure, The Posies, My Bloody Valentine and Joy Division. These influences are not evident in the motives, but realized in the tone of the notes written exclusively for Velvet Tongue.

It has been said: The Band's hard-hitting, vintage-driven and well-timed drummer brings a solid foundation to Velvet Tongue. Andrew's ability to ground the otherwise loose and dirty feel of the instrumental lines yields simplicity to the finished product. He truly ties the core of the music together with intention and uncluttered subtlety. Having been a part of the California music scene for many years, Andrew's influences are more localized and homegrown. He brings a style to the music that is unencumbered by flash and flare as he allows the entire composition to speak for its own intention.
