Music to smash guitars to- Seattle noise rock. Loud. Post-gain. Tube driven. A band who signed the dotted line. Oh, and they write real songs, too...
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Modern Rock, ROCK: Hard Rock
Details:
With a name intended as a joke and a set of songs written in four days, Wad debuted at the underground music festival Freefest in July of 2001. Since then, their live show has evolved into a powerful wall of sound that takes the band from classic Seattle-style power chords to a mosh-inspiring, freakout finish.
El Chivo and Drain-O briefly collaborated in More. Drain-O was also in a band called Sarathan. Chivo's past experience also includes ThinkFeed, Reef, Bleeding Lepers, Naughty Bits and Dazeezeetor. F-Dog spent time with Joker, which later morphed into three different line-ups of MadPoet. El Chivo and F-Dog played and performed together in MadPoet's last incarnation, which disbanded in 2000. A band virgin before Wad, the Reverend Spork recalls his first live show: "The crowd was super-cool, and everyone was shouting 'WAD!' all night..."
Wad has shared the stage with The Ones, Voyager One, Feral, Greenwood Allstars, Bastinado, Plasticene, the Moools, Guilty As Hell, and many more.
Wad is currently playing shows and writing new material as they shamelessly promote their debut release, Clean Livin'.
Sometimes frenetic, sometimes just noise, Wad's music often recalls an earlier era of Seattle rock. The guitars lay down a barrage of distortion that attempts to overwhelm the vocals, and then they suddenly relent and allow melodies to stand on their own. The rhythm section drives the guitars with a downright catchy punch, and provides much more than just a foundation for the action; there is often more going on rhythmically then in the melodies. F-dog delivers lyrics dosed with sarcasm, cynicism, absurdity and humor with an attack equally suited for either a shrill scream or a long, bluesy vibrato.
