12 MP3 Songs
POP: Folky Pop, ROCK: Funk Rock
Details:
Singer, guitarist, songwriter Wendy De Rosa has a knack for the catchy hooks, while her memorable melodies float on powerful rhythms. Her lyrics are enticing, honest, captivating and meaningful. Her songs are beat driven, and she alone has kept a room dancing while opening for a full band.Wendy was born and raised in Bridgeport, CT. In 1995 she moved to Colorado, where her music career blossomed. She has been performing around the Front Range of Colorado for several years, opening for national artists such as Merl Saunders, Melissa Ferrick and Patrice Pike (Sister 7). She has also shared the stage with regional favorites Wendy Woo, Liza Oxnard (Zuba), Junis Ponds and Libby Kirkpatrick. Wendy's been honored to play prominent venues such as The Fox Theatre, The Boulder Theater and Tulagi in Boulder, as well as The Gothic Theater, The Soiled Dove and Herman's Hideaway in Denver.
After playing several years in the Front Range area, Wendy decided to put performing on hold and learn the music business. She gained valuable experience as a publicist with Ariel Publicity (formerly of Boulder, now based in NYC) and as a manager of urban events such as The LoDo Music Festival and The Denver Blues and Bones Festival. Ultimately, she decided to move from backstage to onstage, once again rolling up her creative sleeves and showing her true talents as a musician.
Wendy then became driving force for the Denver-based female fronted groove rock band, Mosaic, who's successful year landed them on stage with national acts including Global Funk Council (including former members of Greyboy Allstars and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe), Digital Underground (Tupac Shakur's original band), Particle, Gilby Clark (Guns and Roses) and Eric Singer (KISS). Mosaic performed in prominent venues throughout Colorado, yet, Wendy was driven to play her music nationally. Mosaic's final show was October 31st, 2002. At the end of Mosaic's run, Wendy was invited to perform on Good Morning Colorado, the morning news program on Colorado Springs' ABC affiliate. She was interviewed about her music and played a few songs. The program was broadcasted to thousands of homes across Southern Colorado. Since then De Rosa has been moving forward as a solo artist. An East Coast tour this past December successfully landed Wendy on the stages of the Acoustic CafÈ in Bridgeport, CT, The Bitter End in NYC and Harrper's Ferry in Boston.
Now, with the release of her new album "glow", Wendy relocated to the West Coast. Already she is getting her feet wet in San Francisco and Los Angeles. In February 2003, Circle of Songs in Los Angeles critiqued 3 songs from her new album givin her A's in every category; songwriting, feel, instrumentation, lyrics, arrangement, etc. Then commented that her music is oustanding and suited for film and T.V. With the release of her new album, Wendy is prepared for a new season, new location, fresh faces and lots of inspiration.
