Hailing from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Randy Whitt's songwriting showcases the influences gained from growing up in rural America with the contemporary instrumentation of the 21st century. As a kid on his Great Grandparents farm, his Grandmother Ola Manness would teach him popular Country and Gospel songs from the 1920's and 30's, and those songs became the foundation that he would build upon years later. Intermingling traditional Country with his own unique twist, he uses the perennial themes of trains, rambling, and love loss, while retaining ample humor and wit. His backing band, "The Grits", is comprised of some of the best musicians in the thriving Chapel Hill music scene. With twang and growl, "The Grits" add the perfect balance to Randy's songs.
Randy finished up on his first tour all over U.S. in support of the album So It Goes. The tour included stops in California, Texas, Alabama, and Hawaii . After returning from the road Randy went straight into the studio to start work on his second CD Alone Again.
Released in July of 2003 Alone Again carves out a sound that is truly Randy's own.
