Alan had the pleasure of living on Golden Acre for nine years, back on the land where, during the Victory Garden years, vines of green beans spelled out "victory," and the tomatoes were as big as basketballs. This story song never fails to elicit tears and smiles. Mr. Brown was a simple man who lived close to the earth and gave away his goods with a generosity that has been unequaled in our experience. Golden Acre, the property, still exists in Nashville, Tennessee. Today, it is nests in its tiny acre of woods, which is in turn dwarfed by high-rise buildings, concrete roads and parking lots. ...but Ross's mischievous side bursts out in Rappin' Eef. The cross-cultural eef/rap folk-art phenomenon represents a roots vocal medium that Ross learned from the great Jimmy Riddle, former HeeHaw star and master eefer.
