Yael Meyer was born in Santiago de Chile in 1981. From a very young age her life was infused with love for music.

She began playing piano at 5. At 13 she grabbed the guitar and by the time she was 14 not only had she written her first songs, but she was already participating in music festivals and competitions, winning several awards and often performing her original compositions before an audience of more than 600 people.

In 1999 she receieved the Berklee World Tour Scholarship and in 2000 she moved to Boston, U.S.A to attend Berklee College of Music where she concentrated her studies on writing, production, voice and percussion.

In 2001 she released a limited edition of an EP entitled "The Other Side" which was well received by audiences in the U.S and Chile and began performing widely as a solo artist around the Boston area.

In 2002 she founded Medula, with whom she performed her original compositions and played at various venues. Later that year she co-founded and joined the band Atmosphera, a 5 member multi-instrumentalist collective that played live improvised electronic music. Mixing analog and organic instruments with computers, the band brought together various artists and organized gatherings and parties where the art of sharing and creating colectively was the predominating idea. Together with Atmosphera, Yael performed in some of the most prestigious venues in the Boston and surrounding areas.

In September of 2003, Yael embarked on her largest project up to date: writing, producing and recording her first full-length debut album "Common Ground". Inspired by the work and the people she had been involved with during her last years in Boston, Yael decided to bring together her friends/artists/musicians from Germany, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Hungary, Argentina and USA to produce a beautiful blend of backgrounds and influences in an album that would feature works of collaboration as well as Yael's solo material. "Common Ground" is a work that hails to the beauty that lies within and around us all the time and an example of what is possible when we find amongst ourselves a space to embrace the differences that make us unique, a "Common Ground"
