13 MP3 Songs
JAZZ: Latin Jazz, JAZZ: World Fusion
Details:
"The Afro Peruvian Jazz Sessions" is a compilation of Zellon's most representative work recorded during several sessions throughout the 90's outside of his homeland. These recordings are historically representative of the international beginnings of this new genre in that they document the first collaboration among mainstream jazz and Latin musicians. "My goal was to achieve a marriage of Afro-Peruvian rhythms with jazz harmony & improvisation", states Zellon. To bring this formula to life, Zellon surrounded himself by established soloists in the mainstream jazz idiom ( David Liebman, Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Paquito D' Rivera, Justo Almario, etc.) as well as rhythm section musicians who had a mastery over both jazz and Afro-Latin rhythms ( Danilo Perez, Edward Simon, Dave Samuels, Oscar Stagnaro, Abraham Laboriel, Alex Acuña, etc.). "This is what the next chapter in the merger of jazz and Latin music sounds like"- Bob Blumenthal
