The Philly Soul Tribute Project is eleven new recordings of classic tunes from the Philly Soul era. Great songs originally made famous by groups like The Stylistics, The Spinners, and The OâJays are reinterpreted by some of Nashvilleâs finest singers and musicians.
The brainchild of musician and producer Bobby King, The Philly Soul Tribute Project is truly a labor of love. âIâve been fortunate to live in two of the greatest music cities in America. I was raised on the sounds of Philadelphia and came of age there as a musician. In 1991 I moved to Nashville to become part of its exciting musical community, but Philly soul music has always remained close to my heart. I wanted to create a project that combined Nashvilleâs love of the song with Phillyâs soulful chords, grooves, and melodies.â
