Originally hailing from Harrsionburg, VA, PuddleDuck formed in the basement of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house, on the campus of James Madison University. What was formed as a group of guys just getting together to jam for fun, with the hopes of maybe playing in front of a real audience, turned into an over 15 year endeavor.

The name PuddleDuck was thought of in haste, when the band needed a name for their first open mic gig at JM's Bar and Grill. After leafing through the dictionary, Michael Parker, the former bassist of pudleduck, landed on the word puddleduck. Defined as "on who dabbles" the band felt it a fitting name for two reasons. The first being that it embodied the band's musical aspirations at the time. To just "dabble" in Rock and Roll and have a good time while we finishing their studies. The second reason it was good enough for what was thought to only be a one time show.

After playing to a packed house of hundreds of JMU students, the rest was history. Weather you like the name or not, PuddleDuck has lived on in the hearts and minds of their many amazing fans.

In the summer of 1995 PuddleDuck traveled to Nashville, TN to record their first full length album "Best Things In Life" The album is a mix of groove rock, with Folk harmonies, dueling guitars and infectious melodies.

In 1996, Sowers, Knowels and Parker left the band to pursue other opportunities. Bobby Sutton and Dave "Gomer"Hedeman pressed on taking PuddleDuck into a new era. However, they still continue to play many of the original tunes from that album.

"Best Things In Life" laid the ground work for one of the east coast's favorite live bands. It's still a PuddleDuck fan favorite.
