DONNA LEE KING bio
Born in Abilene Texas on May 20th, 1961 of Ronald and Patricia Anderson. Donna spent most of her childhood years on her parents farm and was heavily influenced by the environment of a Southern Baptist family and Texas music. Donna sang frequently in the churches her family attended and was always requested by the different pastors because of her most "angelic" voice. But Donna could also belt out the high energy Baptist spirituals with the best of them. She spent her teens and twenties singing in the churches in her area and in her twenties began singing with various bands in the local Texas venues including the "Orange Blossom Special" in Mount Pleasant. She was a favorite there at probably the biggest and most popular club in East Texas. Declining opportunities to travel to other states and Europe with several bands, Donna stuck by her children and stayed close to home. She eventually had to move to Maine with her kids in 1990. After establishing work there, she began writing and recording her own albums in the studios in Maine. She was rewarded with a solid two years of airplay on her first effort doing a country album, and then signed a deal with the biggest Catholic publishing house in the world, "Liguouri," to release her first gospel album, "Seasons of Our Lives." The album sold for over three years internationally. In the meantime she continued singing vocal backgrounds in the local studios and singing publishing demos and jingles to keep her chops. With the kids grown up, she has time to devote to her writing touch, evident in these songs from her first country album and subsequent demos. Oh, and she still sings in church much to the delight of the local Christians.
