Nashville native, Virginia raised but Holy Ghost redeemed, newcomer Righteous makes his debut with the release of Sword of the Spirit. Available February 21, 2009 on a variety of Internet based stores; this album is a must have in any Gospel music collection. This twelve-track weapon has the beats to make your head bop but more importantly make your flesh stop. With a cool east coast flavor and new Jesus swing, Righteous courageously depicts his own life struggles to encourage others that they too can fight against the tricks of the enemy.

Debating on using his government name or a rap name, Daryl Stevenson Jr. fasted and sought Godâs guidance. God honored his request and named him Righteous. âI canât be righteous on my own, only God can deem one person or another to be Righteous,â he says. Giving his life to Christ at the age of 19, Righteousâ new cause is Christ and spreading the good news through Gospel rap. ââ¦I choose to put Jesus on the track to help somebody get through lifeâs trials and tribulations.â Not looking for fame or fortune, his music is ministry driven not industry.

Ephesians 6:17 tells us the sword of the spirit is the word of God, which is what you will find in this album. With a mix of deep base lines, bluesy horns, and mellow drum rifts, the music provides the perfect background for worship. Lyrically, Righteous is âhard on the word plays because he is what the word saysâ. Righteous deals with issues of the heart. There is something for everyone on this project. He lets listeners know that because of the freedom in Christ, you can fight every negative strong hold.
