Details:
Chuck wanted to play music as far back as he can remember. The saxophone or the drums were his instruments of choice, but Mom and Dad thought little Chucky would quit after two weeks. Years of pleading finally paid off one Christmas when low and behold under the tree was a cardboard box containing a Silvertone guitar. A guitar, being much more affordable than his instruments of choice. True to his word, Chuck practiced on that little guitar until he had convinced his parents of his sincere desire to play. After months on the acoustic guitar the folks put out for a cheapo electric guitar and amp. At the age of 16 Chuck formed his first band, the Mods, and won a guitar- playing contest at a department store where he was awarded yet another cheapo electric guitar. Trading the two guitars for his first good instrument Chuck was on his way, but to what?
A motorcycle accident! Having an accident at the age of 17 is never easy, but one that badly scars the face of a shy young musician was devastating. After 6 months, surgery would improve the visible scars, but Chuck became a bit of a recluse, finally deciding to further interrupt his music career by enlisting in the Navy.
Years passed, the scars faded, and returning to the Northwest, Chuck began playing in an acoustic duo, performing originals for the first time. Learning the harmonica, mandolin, and slide guitar, Chuck went on to play in rock, blues, and country bands throughout the Northwest, alternating between "working bands"(doing cover tunes), and trying to "go for it"(playing originals).
Responsibility demanding jobs that actually paid, Chuck was able to play originals less and less until his glorious discovery of multi-tracking. Starting with a 4-track tape recorder Chuck finally was able to really start his writing career, he just had to learn a few more instruments. A few years and a lot of songs later, Chuck made the quantum leap into the 16-track digital world, recording his first CD to be released "About Time".
"Playing all the parts, and doing all the singing really has nothing to do with ego," says Chuck, "I was just always available when I needed me." His second CD "Pyramids on Mars" is currently in post-production.
