Spirited, whimsical, "real" music and stories by talented musicians, ranging in feel from humorous to wistful and including some engaging adult perspectives on lost childhood. We confess, we really wrote this for ourselves, but kids love it too.
11 MP3 Songs
KIDS/FAMILY: General Children's Music, FOLK: Traditional Folk
Details:
Ride a White Stallion gives you more than you expect in a children's album. Though joyful and whimsical it is never condescending but engages children on their own terms. Produced by a group of talented artists who are still in touch with their own childhoods, it invites both children and adults to enter a magical world where anything can happen. Can a mechanical cow stop a bank robbery? Can a stuffed rabbit and a kitty cat save a discarded teddy bear? Does the moon really follow you when you ride in your car? Do unicorns run outside your window? If you can imagine any of these things you owe it to yourself to listen to this debut album by Dream Catchers, a group who believes that people of all ages share equally in the great adventure of life.
The idea for this project grew out of a childhood friendship between songwriter Carla Young and folk and jazz vocalist Ella Csircsu. When Carla and Ella were reunited as adults a few years ago, memories of the musical productions they created together as children blossomed into a new collaboration. Blues based guitarist/arranger Barry Preston from the band Mongrel Mix, and African American storyteller Irma Gardner-Hammond join in making this an album with a diversity and depth rarely found in children's music.
