ROCK: Hard Rock, ROCK: Punk

Details:
After relasing their debut CD, Stately Chaos Home, in 2000, Inside Five Minutes spent the next 2 1/2 years playing endless shows and refining their sound.

After a split 7" with the Tight Bros from Way Back When, IFM locked themselves in their practice space for a half year, crafting what would eventually become this 7-song EP.

While the band's early shows and recordings exhibited them in an aggro, 70's inspired state of almost Sabbath-like punk fusion, their recently released EP shows the band harnessing the aforemenioned energy and using it to mold several moody, intricate, slow burning compositions.

That's not to say that IFM don't rock anymore (refer to track 1, Warm Blooded), but on this EP they do so with a grace and melodic sense that few bands who use such volume levels are able to achieve.

IFM are equally at home in genres of Queens of the Stone Age-esque rock and Fugazi-inspired punk, and have proved that they can crossover quite well, without losing any of their personality.

While a "Detroit rock" revival has been rumored to be happening in the city, IFM are one of the city's only legitimate "rock" bands who choose to push forward rather revelling in the nostalgia of eras that have already had their time.

For fans of: Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Queens of the Stone Age, Fugazi, Pearl Jam.
