Jerome Clinton Thompson's songs are a mix of Blues, Funk, Rock and Country with a pinch of Jazz in some of his chording. The spectrum of his vocal abilities span from Bluesy to Jazzy and even a little Country at times. With a background playing for weddings and private parties, he is as much at ease performing Sinatra as ZZ Top.

In JCT's first CD release "Blues Junction," the predominant focus is Electric Blues, but being a native Texan, there was no way a little Country wouldn't find its way into the mix with a Roadhouse boogie entitled "Sawbuck Weekend." "My parents are from Del Rio, Texas, and my Grandfather was Mayor of Del Rio in the '50s and early '60s during The "X" radio station heyday" says JCT of his firm roots in Texas Music, so it's no surprise that a ZZ Top-style boogie entitled "Del Rio" is featured as the opening track.

"Blues Junction" also has plenty of Texas-Style Blues in songs like "Last Time I was Down in Texas," "Settle Down with the Blues," "Victoria" and "Joe Six-Pack," while the songs "If I Don't Get It This Time" and "Nothing Left But Today" explore a darker side of the Blues in lyrics as well as chords. "I'm crazy about Standard Blues but I also like exploring more dissonant chording," said JCT, "at the same time, I enjoy writing lighter, upbeat tracks like 'Owe my Soul' and 'Joe Six-Pack.'"

One of the CD's tracks, a Blues/Funk song about aging and the addiction to Rock & Roll entitled "Owe my Soul," is currently at number 20 at "Absolutely Music Download: Ireland Top Songs in Blues 2" at Absolutely.net right between Jimmy Witherspoon and B. B. King.

2. IF I DON'T GET IT THIS TIME - The chording is more dissonant than standard Blues.

3. LAST TIME I WAS DOWN IN TEXAS has an acoustic guitar, blues harp and vocal intro then later kicks into Electric Blues. The acoustic intro mimics a typical Texas Beer Hall Jam.

4. JOE SIX-PACK is an upbeat Blues number with Clapton style lead licks played on a Telecaster.

5. VICTORIA is a slow SRV/HENDRIX style Blues.

6. SETTLE DOWN WITH THE BLUES was originally the album title because it describes returning home to the "tried and true" Blues.

7. NOTHING LEFT BUT TODAY - Sting meets Hendrix Blues/Jazz with a Sax/Guitar riff in unison.

8. SAWBUCK WEEKEND - Americana. Actually it's a Roadhouse Boogie.

9. FORGET ABOUT YOU - sounds like B. B. King goes esoteric.
