Details:
Chelsee started singing at the age of eleven, winning 1st prize in her school talent show in her 1st public performance.
The following year she was given the lead roll of "Annie" in the musical of the same name at the local theater. The show sold out all 13 standing room only performances.
At thirteen Chelsee formed a band and won a competition sponsored by a local country station. The prize was opening for Tracy Byrd, Chalee Tennison and South 65.
At fourteen she expanded her performance area to all of Northwest Michigan. She and the band were hired to open for Trick Pony, at Traverse City's National Cherry Festival in front of a crowd of 5-6 thousand.
At fifteen Chelsee recorded her first CD, a compilation of 8 covers by various artists. She again expanded her performance venues, this time statewide, performing at numerous festivals, fairs and special events.
At sixteen Chelsee and the band performed nineteen shows throughout the state including opening for Blake Shelton at the National Cherry Festival and Emerson Drive at the Soo Locks Festival
Along with her busy performance schedule and school, Chelsee made two trips to Nashville in 2003. In January, Chelsee and her band were invited to perform on Fox Televisions, "Mornings on Fox 17", hosted by Charlie Chase of "Crook & Chase" fame. They performed two songs, and Charlie and his co-host Kelly Sutton interviewed Chelsee.
She was back in Nashville in September to compete in the "Nashville Country Show" in which she was chosen in the final six of forty-four competitors. She also performed at the historic "Tootsies Orchid Lounge" in downtown Nashville, to a packed house.
While in Nashville, Chelsee was introduced to Gilles Godard, a writer, producer for Curb Records. After meeting with Chelsee and seeing her perform at Tootsies, Gilles expressed an interest in working with her on her first CD of original music. The details were worked out and Chelsee, then seventeen, returned to Nashville and spent her spring break week 2004 recording.
The CD "A Life Less Ordinary" contains 9 original songs from some of the top publishing companies in Nashville, and 1 remake of a Melissa Etheridge song. It was recorded at Curb Music Studios and B. McMusic Studio with a great musical team.
The producer was Gilles Godard from Curb. Gilles has produced sessions for Terri Clark, Lila McCann, Roy Orbison, Crystal Gayle, and Buddy Jewell.
Craig White engineered the Curb segment. He has engineered for Tim McGraw LeAnn Rimes and Chris Cagle.
Bob McGilpin engineered the B. McMusic vocal segment. Bob has been working in the recording studio since the late 70's.
The musicians that recorded the project were, Jeff King as session leader and lead guitar, Jerry McPherson on guitar/slide guitar, B. James Lowry on rhythm guitar, Joe Chemay on bass guitar, Jason Webb on piano/keyboards, and Wayne Killius on drums. These musicians have recorded with Shania, Reba, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Brooks and Dunn, Terri Clark, and Rascall Flatts to name a few.
Chelsee moved to Nashville September 2005 and has been writing and performing as she continues to make many new friends and contacts in Music City as she pursues her dream of a career as a musical entertainer.
