Flamenco-inspired music that creates a sound that calms the spirit while also evoking celebration from the soul.

12 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Flamenco, JAZZ: Smooth Jazz

Details:
Mathew Dixon's beautiful music captures the spirit of Spain in every note he plays. Although Mathew is a technically gifted player, he lets the melodies of his flamenco-inspired songs ring out over his own virtuosity,
creating a sound that calms the spirit while also evoking celebration from the soul. Following in the foot steps of great artists such as Ottmar Liebert and Jesse Cook, Mathew has developed a unique style that stands out among today's modern Flamenco guitarists.

About the CD:

I've played, written, and recorded a lot of music in my life. This album is the soundtrack to a pivotal point of change.

In early 2004, with an incredible amount of love and support from my wife, Shannon, we decided I would no longer be involved with any work that was not of a musical nature. I quit my job and the 9-to-5 job mill forever.

I began the process of recording a solo album. This would mark the first time I worked without the collaboration of other artists. The challenge of writing and performing all the instruments was truly exciting. It gave me a feeling of freedom and independence with my music, I had never experienced before.

By July 2004, 6 songs were complete. This halfway mark felt like quite an achievement. There were a few distractions that slowed the recording process, but none as great as the one that lay ahead.

Shannon and I began to entertain the idea of relocating. We had spent our whole lives in Southern California - it was time for a change. A friend of ours was moving to the small town of New Braunfels, Texas, and we too found ourselves drawn to the beauty of the town and its river. We made immediate plans to move. As a result, all recording stopped.

By November 2004, our move was complete. Shannon quit her job and we said goodbye to our family and friends. Settling into our new life in Texas brought new inspiration to me and my playing. I started writing and recording as soon as I could.

In May of 2005 - I finished my CD. As I listen to the songs that were written during this incredible life changing time, I realize this music will forever remain a part of me.
