Details:
Emmanuel Fratianni is a pianist and orchestral and jazz composer established in Los Angeles whose music can be heard in film, network television, commercials, concert and video game. His operatic music for video game recently broke ground as the first video game to reach the Top Ten on the Billboard Classical/Crossover chart, with the release of EMI Classics' Video Games Live, Vol. 1.

Born in 1966 in the Swiss resort of Montreux from a large and lively Italian family, his music has been played by many jazz artists and the finest classical ensembles in the U.S. and around the world such as including the

Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl
National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, Washington D.C.
Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall, London
Houston Symphony Orchestra
Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl
Dallas Symphony Orchestra
Northwest Sinfonia
Ensemble Orchestral de la Riviera, Switzerland

Playing piano since the age of eight, Emmanuel began his classical studies upon acceptance to the Montreux Conservatory. As a teenager, he discovered jazz listening to Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Herbie Hancock. Still influenced by the lyricism of his native Italian folk music and the impressionism of Debussy and Ravel, his prolific jazz composing was recognized at the young age of 28 by the City of Montreux, with the region's most prestigious commission of an original symphonic work for his own jazz quartet and orchestra. The concerto grosso in three movements, "September Suite" premiered at the Stravinsky Auditorium, home of the Montreux Jazz Festival, for the official opening of the 1995 city's cultural season. That suite introduced the freedom of improvisation by jazz soloists into the tradition of symphonic concert music. An independently produced recording of the concert was released marking the beginning of Emmanuel¹s recording career the following January.

Musically restless within a year's time, Emmanuel's attention turned towards collaborating with visual and movement artists. He uprooted to Los Angeles where he was awarded a visiting artist visa from the US government and continued his postgraduate studies at UCLA. During this time he trained with critically acclaimed, multi-Emmy nominated and winning television composers Alf Clausen (of The Simpsons), and Jay Chattaway (StarTrek.) His weekly attendance on Hollywood's major scoring stages and close work with these composers cemented his decision to remain in the US, now composing for film and television.

In 2001 Emmanuel was tapped by Emmy-winning composer Steve Bramson for the CBS series J.A.G. where he remained for five seasons orchestrating and composing additional music for the series' score, during which time the show earned two Emmy nominations for best dramatic score.

His recent collaborations have included scoring, orchestrating and conducting the award-winning and critically acclaimed operatic soundtrack to Majesco's Advent Rising, in which he was asked to compose the opening tracks Muse and Poeta by supervising composer Tommy Tallarico and collaborator Laurie Robinson. The score was recorded by Academy award-winning scoring engineer Armin Steiner, at Paramount Stage M and featured the voices of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The soundtrack was released on Nile Rodgers Sumthin' Else label and continues to be an Amazon fan favorite. It was this score which debuted in the Billboard Classical/Crossover top 10 in the above mentioned EMI Classics release.

To this day, faithful to his musical origins, Emmanuel actively composes for jazz performance and concert music in Los Angeles.
