Details:
"One of the most impressive modern jazz projects in the country ... it's for jazz fans everywhere." (The Fly Magazine)

Personnel on this project: Tom Reese, flute; Laurie Haines Reese, cello; Kirk Reese, piano; Dave Lewis, B-3 organ; Aaron Walker, drums.

The Reese Project, led by flutist/composer Tom Reese, plays real jazz, performing jazz standards and originals. Their world-class appeal includes all ages, from jazz lovers to newbies. Their unique instrumentation & innovative performances makes them appealing to hear & to see (listen for Tom's trademark "Yeah!" during choice moments!). They have played to packed houses, even in snow storms!

They have opened for Nick Brignola, The Coasters & Chaz DePaolo & Blue Sketch. Recent venues include: Alois Martini Bar (PA), Allegro Vineyards "Bud-Break" Celebration, Carlisle's First Night Celebration, WGCB-TV's "Morning Magazine", G-Bar at Giovanni's (NY), Harrisburg Jazz Festival, HMV Record Stores (Manhattan), Laserdome (PA), Le Maquisart Jazz Club (Trois-Rivieres, Quebec), Live radio broadcast concerts for WGMC (Rochester) & WVIA (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre), Live TV concerts for WGCB (Red Lion), Live radio concert at WVIA, Lancaster Jazz Fest 2004, Turk's Head Jazz Festival, Belmont Race Track (Queens, NYC), Carlisle's Thornwald Park Concert Series, Lancaster's Countdown 2001, North Museum Planetarium, Heritage Center Museum, "A Jazzy Christmas" (Lancaster, PA), Long's Park (Lancaster, PA), Whitaker Center (Harrisburg, PA), & Zoetropolis (Lancaster, PA).

They were selected to be part of the "Best of 30 Years of Homegrown Music" CD on WVIA. Band members have worked with Phil Woods, Ira Sullivan, "Blue Lou" Marini, Valery Pomoronov, Chuck Mangione, BJ Thomas, Melissa Manchester, Gloria Estefan, Henry Mancini & others.

"I caught three fabulous acts Sunday at the Lancaster Jazz Festival. The headliner, Kurt Elling, kept the listeners there, but for my tastes, the second act, the Reese Project, stole the show. This unique combination with a soloing cello playing bass lines, amazing soloist Tom Reese making the flute viable as a jazz instrument & soaring vocals by vetern vocalist Ron Smith proved that unique instrumentation equals great jazz." (Logan McKinney, "New Waves in Radio")

Their influences include all the jazz greats like Miles & Coltrane, and collect from the diverse sounds of Bela Fleck, David Grisman, Stephane Grapelli, Turtle Island & Kronos String Quartets, & classic rock bands.
