The young Austrian band FALB FICTION published the second CD called âLost Controlâ in 2008. Two years after their successful debut âwaiting forâ, the musicians have come together again to record new pieces and realise ideas that have been developed together.
As before, saxophone player and bandleader Viola Falb is in charge of the compositional work. She gives her group a new musical appearance and once again manages to put the strengths of the individuals and of the whole group into the focus of attention. She therefore employs varied and complex compositions, more freedom for improvisation and a mixture of various stylistics.
Due to a large number of concerts, the four musicians have blended into a throbbing unit, creating space for open-minded improvisation. New ideas are taken up immediately and are further developed, the soloist is accompanied and supported with diligence, and the so-created tension culminates in joint outbursts of energy.
Viola Falb won the Austrian âHans Kollerâ Jazz Prize in the cathegory âNEWCOMER of the Year 2008â
