After the release of his departure CD, "Typical Male" in 1995, Shawn reluctantly began a personal journey for several years which lead him to confront and honestly understand the anger and confusion behind the darker sounds of "Typical Male". With new found peace and Faith, he returned to the studio with songs not just of hope -- but filled with new energy and a feeling of purpose. In 1999, proclaiming with Pride, Shawn Thomas released "OUT IN THIS WORLD". From the soulful runs and melodies of "I Will Be There" and "I Found a Place", to the groove and rhythm of "One Day at a Time", "When Love Ain't Enough", and of course the title track, "OUT IN THIS WORLD" demonstrates the intential return of Shawn Thomas to the Pop/Dance style for which he is best known.
