Details:
American Christian recording artists, Judy Newton and Diane Stanton-Rich, recently have completed two new compact disks, one about Old Testament Women of the Bible and one about New Testament Women of the Bible. These song lyrics and music are resources for women's church groups, personal devotion and church group discussions. Please try one today. May God Bless You!

Judy is a United States missionary in Japan. Diane has worked with churches in a variety of ways for decades. She now lives in Japan, where her husband, Mike, pastors a church and her 10-year-old son, Jeremiah, attends an international school. She has several published books and articles.

Both Judy and Diane love composing hundreds of Christian songs. They have a wonderful time creating music together. They both compose the lyrics and melodies. Judy does the arrangements and plays the keyboards and organ, and Diane does most of the singing and plays flute, guitar and percussion. They feel God's love flow through them as they try to put inspirational Bible passages to music. They hope you enjoy their music, and that it ispires you in your journey toward a closer walk with God.

SONGS OF BIBLE WOMEN: NEW TESTAMENT
Copyright 2004, Judith May Newton & Diane Stanton-Rich

How many women of the New Testament can you name? You may know more than you think you do, once you take a closer look. As we were doing quite a bit of research and writing these songs, we became newly aware of the many gifts of the New Covenant women. Pay attention to the recommended Bible passages, as well as to the Bible study questions. These can be considered individually or as a group. You may very well make up further questions, as you look into the situations and spirit of these fascinating women of the New Testament. May God guide you in this time of joy and growth.

SAMPLE LYRIC: SOON ENOUGH
1. Sleep tonight, little one,
Till it's light, little one,
You can't hear how the cold wind blows,
You can't see the star that glows.
2. Just feel the warmth of my breast,
Find you joy in rest,
Soon enough come the storms and chill,
Soon enough the Light that will fill
All creation, living out God's will,
Until then, my little one, be still.
Vocals and Flute: Diane. Organ: Judy.
Flute music composed by Musubi Tabuchi.
Luke 2:17-19. What various emotions may have been in Mary's heart as she held her baby? What are the "storms" and "chill" that await Jesus? When you are full of anxiety because of something threatening you, your faith, or your family, what should you do?

SAMPLE LYRIC: JOANNA, Susannah, and Mary Magdalene (Judy)
1. Joanna, Susannah, and Mary Magdalene,
Three sisters of faith and witness,
Traveled with Jesus, took part in the ministry,
Helped the disciples with health and with fitness.
2. Sometimes they sewed, and sometimes they baked,
Ready to give a strong hand,
Caring for children and fetching fresh water,
Friendly with people in town and on farmland.
3. Joanna, Susannah, and Mary Magdalene,
Three sisters who loved the Savior Christ,
Worked with him, talked with him, always beside him,
Willing to sacrifice, and pay the high price,
And pay the high price.
Vocals: Diane. Keyboard: Judy.
Luke 8:1-3. How did these women assist Jesus with his mission? Do you suppose they especially helped with healing, and, if so, what substances might they have used? If you were with Jesus, how could you pitch in?

SAMPLE LYRIC: MARY AND MARTHA
(Note: This song is easy for children to sing)
1. Bang, bang went the dishes that Martha used,
(sing 3 times)
When Jesus was at Mary and Martha's house.
Martha was so busy. She cleaned and fixed the food.
She got mad at Mary. She was in a really angry mood.
2. "Oh, please, tell me more," is what Mary said,
(sing 3 times)
When Jesus was at Mary and Martha's house.
Mary kept on listening as Christ shared what he knew.
Jesus said to Martha, "Mary's listening is important too."
Vocals: Diane & Bob Spencer. Accompaniment: Bob Spencer.
Luke 10:38-42. What were Martha, Mary and Jesus each doing in this scripture? Do you ever let too many things to do keep you from spending time on church, Sunday School or Bible Study? How can you balance life priorities, including time for prayer and spiritual growth?

SAMPLE LYRIC: TOO NEAR THE CROSS
1. "Too near the cross," the soldier barks,
So we draw back, with a sigh,
We Marys and others who followed Jesus
Cry as we watch him die.
2. The men hang back, perhaps ashamed,
We'd all deserted Christ,
And now he hangs there with blood on his hands,
Blood coming from his side.
3. He speaks so softly, forgives us all,
Surely this man is God,
Oh, why is he dying? Will he come back?
We're all in dismal fog.
4. We'll go to market to buy the spices,
For his body in the tomb,
Soon after the Sabbath we'll find the grave,
Through our sorrow, gloom.
Vocals: Diane & Jon Bateman. Keyboard: Judy.
Matthew 27:55-56, Mark 15:40-41, Luke 23:49, John 19:25-27. Which details are shared in the four accounts and what is unique? Considering that those standing too near the cross could be arrested, what must it have taken for the followers (especially the women) to gather there? How can we share in the sacrifice of Christ?
