To really appreciate Chuck Baker is to see him play live. Check him out on the cool stage at a folk festival near you. Chuck has opened for a long list of Canadian treasures including The Rheostatics, Catherine Wheatley, Wendell Ferguson, Craig Cardiff, The Silver Hearts, David Francey and Fred Eaglesmith.

In 2006, Baker released his first independent recording a little piece of quiet. His song On the Radio has earned him several radio spotlights on Collingwoodâs The Peak FM Northern Tracks, as well as appearances on Rogerâs Cable Simcoe Living and Daytime. Baker recently won first place in the 2006 Collingwood Live Songwriterâs Showdown. Baker has also been a featured performer at the Orillia Folk Societyâs Diamonds in the Ruff songwriterâs showcase series and Collingwoodâs Songwriterâs Stage since 2003. This new album and live show has earned him a spot at this season's Mariposa Folk Festival.

Chuck Bakerâs music has been described as many things, but for Baker itâs just being honest that counts. His long awaited first album a little piece of quiet is just that. âItâs an honest record. Itâs all about meaning itâ, he explains. âTom Waits, for instance â when he sings the line âI love youâ, he sells it because he means it. And what made Johnny Cash so great? He meant it. I choose my lyrics carefully, and I try to mean what I sing. I think weâre all just trying to write good songs.â
