WILLIE MOAK, born June 3rd, 1952. Along with twin brother BOBBY, makes Willie a real Gemini. Started playing drums when he was eight years old in the drum & bugle corp the Islanders from Green Island, N.Y.. His first gig was to play at the Troy music hall, Troy, N.Y. for a political
rally for J.F.K. in 1960. In high school he played in local bands. after college he began playing with the rock band OPUS. The band played mostly in upstate N.Y. and sometimes throughout the northeast. Delaware, N.J., Vermont, and the big apple where some places where the group performed. The band did its own original music and had many showcases for major labels. OPUS never signed and after many years playing bars and clubs, it was time to move on.
Willie started working in a recording studio and began writing and recording his own material. He started to play acoustic guitar at this time and used his percussion background to develope his own style.
He released his first indie cd in 1997 called "Before & After" which has full blown music tracks with background vocals and SFX as well. He recently released his latest cd called "songs your mother might like". It is a solo recording live at the famous Caffe' Lena in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.. Willie has been staying out of the bars and mostly playing coffee houses and small venues, such as borders music & books ect...
He's been hosting two open mics each month. One is at Mother Earth's Cafe in Albany, N.Y. and Caffe' Lena's Saratoga Srings, N.Y..
