Michael Avery is a gifted singer, songwriter and arranger of gospel praise music. His style leans more toward neo-soul, with a broad appeal that ranges from young adults to middle-age boomers. Originally raised in southern California in a family of preachers, musicians and singers, he has shared stages with many luminaries in the gospel and jazz scene of Seattle, where he currently resides (Freddy Cole and Ernestine Anderson and Marvin Sapp, just to name a few.)

Michael Avery's current EP âa & b Selectionsâ provides listeners with a sample of the width and depth of his songwriting style and ability that is on display in his upcoming full album release. He writes music for those who didn't grow up in church or have any particular religious doctrines. While encompassing a contemporary style and relevant context, Michael Avery remains true to his roots. God is the ultimate source of his gift, so the gift will forever glorify The Giver .
When asked where his songs come from, Michael had this to say: "Great songs have more to do with the lyrical substance and anointing, not vocal gymnastics. I asked God to give me the ability to touch people with words that will rest in the soul and compel men and women to seek Him, not me.
