The recording of this album was made on Friday, October 19th 2007 at the âPoly Theaterâ in Beijing, China. The concert was part of the inaugurating ceremony of the â2008 Cultural Olympicsâ, leading up to the Beijing Summer Olympic Games of 2008.
It consisted of some of the most well known pieces of music by Stamatis Spanoudakis, but, most importantly, it included brand new musical compositions, which were specially created for the concert. Most of these compositions were later re-recorded and released on the album âAlexandros II, Paths You Never Walkedâ. However, these live recordings portray the compositions in their true, original form since these were (as always) arranged for the orchestra by the composer himself.
The fact that the composer himself participated in the Orchestra (on keyboards, guitars and bouzouki), is of particular importance.
