Details:
Originally self-taught, Jeremy gave his professional debut classical recital on March 26, 1999 at the Texas A&M University campus in Corpus Christi, TX. A portion of that recital was televised on the ABC affiliate in that city. He was the first guitarist to appear with the Southern Methodist University Wind Ensemble in 1997. Furthermore, he was featured as a soloist with The Fort Worth Men's Chorus that same year and appeared at the Southwest Guitar Festival in San Antonio (1998) as a member of the SMU Guitar Quartet.
With education a high priority, Jeremy has given master classes for young musicians and students of the classical guitar. Furthermore, he volunteers as a speaker and performer at area schools. In addition to adjudicating the first annual Guitar Zone competition in Dallas (1999), he has presided over H&H's Music Festivals here in Houston which included students of a variety of disciplines.
Jeremy holds degrees in classical guitar performance from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where he focused his Master's studies on on the music of Spain. Presently, he is residing in the Houston area where he directs the guitar program atSan Jacinto College South while maintaining a busy performance schedule.
As the co-founder for the group, Garcia y Reyna, Jeremy has performed in California, New Mexico, New York City, and the Vail, Colorado International Dance Festival. The band also released a CD, "Baile del Sol," in 2004 featuring all original music. As a soloist, Jeremy has appeared with the Fort Bend Symphony in a performance of Joaquin Rodrigoâs famous âConcierto de Aranjuezâ in the fall of 2006. He was asked by conductor, John Ricarte, to perform the Aranjuez a second time with the Brazosport Symphony in the spring of 2007. On the same concert, Jeremy performed an original concerto that he co-composed for two guitars and orchestra â âConcierto Nuevo Flamenco.â
Jeremy is a versatile guitarist. In addition to his own music, Jeremy has appeared as a guest artist on recordings in the following genres: alternative rock, jazz, and R&B! It is his love and respect of the music of Spain, however, and especially the art of flamenco that has led Jeremy to Del Espadin Flamenco and Spanish Dance Academy where he accompanies dancers in the traditional manner. In the flamenco setting, he is known as, "Jeremias el Valiente."
In his new group, Café Khytaro, Jeremy works with a variety of musicians and settings to create a new musical experience every time.
