Twelve years ago, Kayte was a member of a nonprofit performance organization donning scarecrow and fairy costumes, belting show tunes and oldies like âIf I Only Had a Brainâ for nursing home residents and at county fairs. Spending almost a decade entertaining the sometimes sleeping, sometimes yelling, sometimes enthralled nursing home residents allowed Kayte to cultivate a performance style marked by her infectious energy, humor and spunk.

Years later, she formed the acoustic/indie/pop duo Russell Cried with a good friend. The pair wrote several dozen songs together, which they honed and performed at area coffeehouses. It wasnât until Kayte went to college that she picked up the guitar for herself, inspired by a kaleidoscope of new people and experiences and the pulse of the city, to write.

From here her story accelerates. She stumbles upon a $50 guitar in Linen Nâ Things, buys it, composes ten songs while teaching herself to play, posts them on YouTube, wins fans all over the world, becomes YouTubeâs âUnsigned Pickâ of the week, and records and releases her debut EP âSoaked You Inâ ⦠all in less than nine months.

And the music isnât all sheâs been up to â Kayte, a Screen Actors Guild member, has acted professionally for over ten years, landing roles in national commercials and in television shows like Law & Order: SVU, HBOâs The Wire, and Gossip Girl.
