This is an album of folk-rock songs by renowned Chicago musician Jason Batchko.Integrated Cookbook is a solo project that grew out of Jasonâs band The Girls, an intense rock band known for their high-energy music and electrifying stage show. The musical ferocity and dark humor of The Girls were always accompanied by a gentler side that was beautifully lyrical. This side of the band led Jason to Integrated Cookbook.The album was recorded over the course of a year when Jason was figuring out this new musical direction by playing monthly solo shows at a small café-bar in the North Center neighborhood called Katerinaâs. He experimented, took risks, opened himself up and got extremely good at interacting with
an audience at close range. The residency ended when he was nearly attacked by an overly-affected audience member. Jason Batchko has lent his unique musical sensibility to many artists. He is best known as a drummer, and has toured and recorded with a number of bands including Euro-pop singer April March, power pop legend Jonny Polonsky, the eccentric Chicago band The Joy Poppers, and art-rockers Caviar.
