An idea, a sound, a calling infixed in the conscious and subconscious minds of two complete strangers is where this story begins. Like so many bands before them, INFIX was started by 2 guys searching through the on-line want ads for other musicians with similar tastes in music looking to jam. In mid 2004 hard rock guitar player Rob Minervino from Lanoka Harbor posted an ad on the web in search of other musicians looking to play something heavy yet melodic, but more importantly something original. His ad was quickly answered by hard rock drummer Kyle Crisis out of Neptune. The two made arrangements to jam over at Metro Studios in Wall Township, NJ. Both musicians were previously members of two moderately successful original Jersey Shore bands, but they were both searching for a different sound than they had previously been playing. After the first jam session it was apparent to them that their musical styles were a fit. The heavy yet melodic riff-oriented guitar style of Minervino, coupled with the hard-hitting hard rock drumming style of Crisis proved to be complimentary. More importantly they had a shared vision of where they wanted the music to go. In an area as overly saturated with cover bands as the Jersey Shore, the two were adamant that it would be an original music project primarily if not exclusively.

A few months of auditions later, the bass guitar services of K.Z. Brueckner were enlisted by the would-be band. KZ, a Freehold native, had also been in and out of some other local NJ original bands geared more towards the heavy metal end of the spectrum. KZ brought the low-end crunch and intensity needed to complete the rhythm section. Now all they had to do was find a singer to complete the lineup...this task would prove to be much more difficult that the three ever imagined!

For the better part of the next two years, the band did nothing but write songs, practice, and audition singers. Dedication to their craft was never an issue for INFIX. Whether they had someone coming in to try out or not, the band kept practicing, writing, and waiting for the right person to walk through the door of Metro Studioâs rehearsal room X to consummate the band. Countless auditions of talented (and some not so talented) singers came and went, but the band was not willing to compromise the vision they had of their music. A lot of gifted singers walked through the door, but for one reason or another, the style of the band and the styles of the singers just didnât gel. At times the band wasnât even sure themselves what they were looking forâ¦they just put faith in their instincts that they would know it when they heard it.

During the spring of 2006 the band employed the services of Bricktown native Joe McSteal. This short-lived version of INFIX recorded and gigged briefly during the summer of 2007, but parted ways due to artistic differences that same season.
Practice and song writing continued for the band until February 2008 when Laceyâs own Daniel Natoli answered the longstanding want ad and showed up to see if this project was a musical fit for all parties involved. Natoli had years of experience under his belt with both original rock bands and most recently the local cover-band circuit, but playing other peoplesâ music left him feeling unsatisfied. His true passion had always been for playing original music. Right from the first audition the band and Daniel felt comfortable working together and more importantly, both felt the potential for something much, much bigger. He had similar musical interests and influences, but a much different approach than the vast majority of singers that had tried out in the past. It transformed the music into a sound that was differentâ¦different than what the band had heard from the majority of the other original rock bands in the area. Very early on in the audition process he totally grasped what it was the band was striving to accomplish musically, and he was conceptually onboardâ¦heavy, melodic, energetic, and originalâ¦lyrics for a song were written on the spot during their first session together. After jamming for a couple of weeks or so, building a working chemistry and personal rapport, the band knew that this was undoubtedly the guy for the job and he knew that this was the project he had been searching for. Daniel accepted the offer to be the long awaited front-man of INFIX. The only task now was to learn, practice, and polish the music.

In June of 2008 INFIX returned for a handful of summer shows when it became apparent to the band that yet another lineup change had to be made. After much discussion the band parted ways with original bass guitar player KZ. Natoli, having extensive bass playing experience in addition to his singing experience, took over the empty role bringing a more melodic approach to the rhythm section. The band, now a power trio, immediately went back to the drawing board and retooled their music. With new baselines to be written and Natoli now pulling double duty (playing bass and singing), the band worked tirelessly to reinvent their music. Despite the fact they now had one less band mate, they felt stronger and more confident about where the music was going. In the fall of â08 the band finished re-recording and mixing their new vision of the music theyâd been working so diligently to complete.

In December 2008 INFIX re-emerged on the scene with one mission and one mission onlyâ¦the same mission theyâve had since their inceptionâ¦to take the Jersey Shoreâs original music scene by storm!
