Data Stream-Hearst Ctr for the Arts

The James & Meryl Hearst Center for the Arts, 304 West Seerley Blvd., in Cedar Falls, is proud to welcome back Data Stream, the areaâs singular trio of musician/composers, to the Hearst Centerâs Mae Latta Hall stage, on Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 PM.

Data Streamâs innovative composer/musicians deftly combine improvisation with tradition, and emotion with intuition. Their unique affecting style provides audiences with a rare glimpse of genre defying, technology based sounds that represent a watershed to modern music.

Featuring Sandy Nordahl, on bass, Scott Jon Schwestka on guitar, vocals, and percussion, and Peter Hamlin on synthesizer, Data Stream has been captivating audiences in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Vermont since their debut in 1989.

Sandy Nordahl, composer/bassist, is currently the Technical Director at the

Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Nordahlâs varied background ranges from internationally performed compositions, to expert engineering and production, counting among his clients Simon & Schuster, Time/Warner, Shrapnel, Megarock, and more.

Scot Jon Schwestka, composer/guitarist/vocalist/percussionist, is also a producer and engineer, a music and art educator, and an internationally acclaimed composer. As an accomplished luthier, Schwestka has developed unique stringed instruments for the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Scott Henderson, and others.

Peter Hamlin, composer/synthesizer maestro, is a music professor and Chair of the music department at Middlebury College, in Vermont. Formerly of the Cedar Valley, Hamlin has an extensive background in electronic media, having hosted a classical music program on KUNI-FM between 1980 and 1990, and previously serving as Iowa Public Televisionâs fine arts host.
