Details:
Vocal artist & songwriter Vicki Tetreault, was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, but relocated to Quebec City as a child, where she began learning the beauty and importance of embracing her different cultural ties. Vicki's fearless determination and passion for building hope with her music for the kindred soul is her ultimate goal.
Vicki has been singing ever since kindergarten. Her 1st public performance was in the second grade. This American/Canadian singer songwriter made her main debut as a live performer at her local village fair in St-Camille De Bellechasse. She took the initiative to go up on stage and began singing Whitney Houston's hit song, "The Greatest Love Of All." Her singing resonated with the crowd and made such an indelible impression that she parlayed that presentation into becoming a professional solo artist.
Vicki, a United States born mixture of French Canadian, American, Native American and European ancestry, moved to the French speaking province of Quebec, Canada at an early age.
Relocating to a new country and learning a new language, was a rigid transition for Vicki's straight A record. She eventually decided she would leave school for a time in order to find work and help her father and grandparents bring in grocery money, and help look after her younger siblings; as everyone was slowly adjusting to the unfortunate family separation of her parents.
Although times were emotionally challenging Vicki found strength in something that allowed her to persevere â Theatre and music. "Music is like the air I breathe, so I married it - so to speak".
Predominately self taught, Vicki's musical artistry is the mirror image of her heart, soul and mind as she shares more and more of her insight and experiences on life. After traveling a bit, Vicki returned to Quebec City to complete her studies, she then pursued to study & work in musical Theater, that soon after earned her a few T.V. appearances; One involving a local film producerâs up & coming sit-com entitled âPerfect Teamâ. Vicki even stared in many plays for the âQuebec Art Companyâ, and well as many theater pieces for some off campus productions, such as âOpening Nightâ & an Irish play where she played the lead role entitled â1847â. During her journey of all this live entertainment experience, she soon discovered that music was her main passion, interest and calling.
The power of Vicki's authentic timber is truly a blessing that will touch your soul in many different ways. Itâs an artistry that cannot be taught but rather engraved in ones soul. Vicki pours her heart out into everything she does. The magic of her timber is a living essence that can only be understood through her live shows. She is a born entertainer. Whether itâs singing, song-writing, acting in films, producing or jumping, there's nothing this fearless female vocal artist can't do. In everyday life, she is a soul who would give you the shirt straight off her back, if you needed.
She became a popular local singer in the city of Quebec where she resided and in 1999 she invested, and recorded a cover demo under the stage name Vicky Rose. In 2000, country superstar Shania Twain came to town and invited Quebec City to vote for one local singer to join her on stage. Vicki's version of "If Your Not In It For Love" overwhelmed the switchboards at 98.9 CHICK-FM and she was declared an early winner. Vicki interpreted Shaniaâs "What Made You Say That" in front of 15,300 inspiring listeners.
In 2002 under the stage name âVicky Roseâ, she wrote, produced and recorded her first full length CD of original country rock material entitled âBelieve Againâ. In her eyes, the quality and direction of the production were not 100 satisfying enough for her to seek major distribution, so she decided to shelve the project and began listening, singing, and experimenting with other styles of music from around the world in order to mold a sound that better voiced her own feelings and visions.
Throughout 2002, Vicki continued to work in the country rock format performing in various venues and festivals around the US and Canada including Quebec, Montreal, Florida, Las Vegas, and Massachusetts. Feeling that her music was becoming to formulaic and did not represent her experiences and her voice, she decided to experiment with Alternative rock.
Together with her newly acquired manager Eric Applebaum Esq, of Fein, Person & Edmond P.C., and the song writing and production team of Vincenzo Thoma and Simona Peron of Montreal, Vicki began to collaborate on new material that brought her to another artistic level. Thoma and Peron (who have worked with the likes of Andrea Bocelli, Gino Vannelli, Roch Voisine, Filippa Giordano, Lara Fabian and Corrado Rustici), ignited a creative spark in Vicki when she recorded their songâ Keep On Livingâ. This allowed her to release her own creative spirit which in turn inspired her to write a lot of her own material. She continued to work with Thoma and Peron and soon recorded the songs âEyesâ and âSummer of Our Loveâ.
With the help of Mr. Applebaum, Vicki was also introduced to award winning songwriter Deb Ferrara. Ferrara, an ASCAP Popular Music award winner in 2003 and 2004, who quickly penned some songs for Vicki, and when spotlighted in the September 25, 2004 edition of BillBoard Magazine, proudly singled out Vicki as one of the next upcoming artists recording her material. Deb wrote "5ive minutes", âLoving Youâ, âLie To Me Tonightâ, âMarry Meâ, and âCryinâ etc.. Through Deb, Vicki was then introduced to Charles P.Hurowitz, Ron King, and Justine Keys of Hopeful Dreamer Music Pub (ASCAP), and she recorded their song âJust Another Slap In The Faceâ.
Charles introduced Vicki to Tony Mitchell of Scream Music, who wrote âButterflyâ. Vicki then added 3 of her own original compositions â7 Spiritsâ, "Please Donât Sayâ, and âCryptâ, and in 2004 with the help of Giovanni Zappala at Studio Slam, and Eric Applebaum Esq, she produced and released her 1st alternative demo album entitled âVicky Taytroâ. Arrangements were cleverly created by Gio and Dan Marfisi, Bernie Cossentino, Vincenzo Di-Thoma.
Seeking to further explore this new musical direction, Vicki at the advice & support of family friend & colleague Mr. Eric Applebaum, she auditioned for the Canadian Progressive Rock band âInvernessâ, she then packed her bags and moved to Montreal where together they released a four song EP in 2007. Deciding that musically, they were heading in different directions, so Vicki parted ways with Inverness and has since been embarking yet again on a new musical journey.
Firmly dedicated to her passion as a singer and songwriter, Vicki has garnered high praise from her music and performances. One recent music critic noted ââ¦It is hard to believe that Vicki Tetreault remains an independent artist when many major label artists cannot reach the power, spirit, and soul that her voice can without even trying very hard.â Knowing that life as an indie artist and in general can be trying, Vicki maintains a positive outlook and says, âWork hard, make a plan, follow it, stay true to yourself and the promise of a team, never listen to anyone unless they truly speak your language, and BELIEVE IN and push YOURSELF. Parts of it are a job like anything else; parts are the very source of life, A dream that we all share and can relate too. If there were a written recipe, I think everyone would get sick from eating the same damn thing. Follow your heart and never allow anyone to suggest changing who you are, or your beliefs, because your differences are what make you special.â
Vicki continues to write and perform and is currently seeking management and booking in the US and Canada, and eventually overseas. Plus a little Major help in distribution could always help get things moving a little faster.
