First, the personal side. If you would like to read about awards, affiliations, etc., you will find those at the bottom of this text.

What others who have purchased my music on CD Baby are saying:

Today is a gloomy, rainy day in Arkansas, and I needed some music to lift me up - that music on my stereo right now is yours. Beautiful, pure, and definitely soul-touching. I want you to know how much I appreciate your sharing your awesome talent.
Lori (AR)

I think your latest albums is a hit . I love the peaceful mood of it.
Thanks, Mahmood (CA)

For me, this CD simply sounded like a great relaxing way to take the edge off of a really lousy day....and it does! I am enjoying it a great deal and listen to it often.
Ed (NJ)

I listen to your CD almost daily. I really love it.
Wendy (PA)

I am not a trained musician. I donât read music. I know no music theory. I play only what I hear in my head and feel in my heart. Sometimes I think this is a great limitation; other times a true blessing.
When I sit down to write a piece of music, I have no idea where it is going to take me. Many times it is nowhere, but sometimes the journey is very exciting, with many twist and turns along the way. This is the way I have written my music for well over 40 years, and it has always been a true adventure.
Major influences on my music include the composers of The Great American Songbook â Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin and so many more. To these I also add a personal favorite â the wonderful composer of film and television, Henry Mancini.
At the age of 14 I was introduced to Classic Jazz and was smitten. In the early 60s there was not only the British Invasion, but also the Brazilian Invasion with Antonio Carlos Jobimâs classic, âThe Girl from Ipanema.â Brazilian Jazz has played a prominent role in my compositions ever since.
By the mid- 80s technology had advanced to the point one could write, arrange and produce music with a full orchestral sound from oneâs own studio. Today, I compose and produce my music in this way.
Music from The Great American Songbook has long been a staple on the modern jazz scene. Brazilian jazz has expanded into interpretations of North American jazz and vice-versa. Ivan Lins carries the torch lit by Jobim as does Dave Grusin for Mancini. As with all music, jazz keeps evolving, changing with the infusion of other styles and interpretations â staying alive and fresh with new directions forged with the influences of those going before.
Ultimately, it makes no difference what you call the music â what genre you place it in. What is important is the amount of enjoyment it brings to the listener. Music was meant to stir the spirit; to excite the emotions; to make you feel alive; to make you smile, or even a little bit blue; to make you want to dance, or maybe just daydream. Music is a journey not taken by everyone. Enjoy the trip.
â Vernon

The dry stuff:
I am affiliated with BMI as a writer and publisher;
a voting member of NARAS (The Grammys) and have served on their judging panel for their cd packaging/presentation awards. For 10 years I hosted regular jazz critiques for the Georgia Music Industry Association and have scored works for television. My compositions have won awards in songwriting competitions, including Billboardâs International Songwriters competition. I have been a professional graphic artist/illustrator for over 35 years.
