Nashville, Tennessee (January 14, 2009)âAdroit Records is pleased to announce the release of its debut compilation CD entitled WORDS & MUSIC NASHVILLE on March 3, 2009.

Adroit Records [Adroit: skillful and adept under pressing conditions] is dedicated exclusively to generate awareness and expose the vast quantity of extraordinary music written by Nashville singer-songwriters (that my not otherwise be heard or made available via the commercial media outlets) to music enthusiasts worldwide. The labelâs mission is to broaden the spectrum of music choices while providing talented tunesmiths and artists the outlet and opportunity to be heard.

âWords & Music Nashville is nothing less than a dream come true,â said Adroit label exec and record producer, James Tract. âTo be able to go into the studio with the cream-of-the-crop of songwriters, whom I respect and admire, was a gift. The CD is not just music, itâs a work of art. Itâs a labor of love for all involved, and a convergence of synergy and energy. Thereâs no filler, just one truly amazing song after another!â

WORDS & MUSIC is a musical storybook of soulful interpretations. From making your way in todayâs world, to patriotism, mortality, infidelity, to the reality of growing up, there is a prominent emotion within each cut that folds into a unique composition. A truthful and organic presentation of tales, WORDS & MUSIC is stories shared through honest words, raw emotion and music that rings crystal clear.

Produced by Tract, the CD contains ten songs written and performed by the songwriter and features award-winning and prodigy song crafters Lucas Hoge (âDirtâ), Craig Monday (âHeaven Is A Small Townâ), Vince Melamed (âWalk Away Joeâ), Joshua Rush (âI Found Myself Dancingâ), Brendan McKinney (âYeah She Doesâ), Ray Sisk (âMemphis [Ainât No Place to Lose the Blues]â), Cheley Tackett (âPlay The One I Likeâ), Karleen Watt (âIâm Not Readyâ), Lisa Carver (âBulletsâ) and Mason Douglas (âHome Freeâ).

From all over the country, experiencing life a little differently, each WORDS & MUSIC artist delivers something, new, different and surprisingly unexpected, but with a common thread that is evident--they live and breath music.

Lucas Hogeâs âDirtâ has been attracting national attention. Fueled by fiddles, banjos and pride, it tells the rugged truth of life in the country. In 2008, Hoge was named âBest International Country Male Artistâ at the Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards.

Lisa Carver
Lisa Carverâs story is beyond fascinating. The youngest of five children, she was raised with Gospel playing in the forefront (her mother was a member of a Gospel trio) while the overtones of traditional country music (that her father listened to) seeped through the walls of the household. As a child, Lisa was drawn to the dramatic musical tales; she loved the story-songs. She spent most of her formative years in a religious commune located in southeast Alaska living in a log cabin with no running water or electricity, and commercial music hushed and nearly unheard. Despite the silence of melodies and musical tones, music and storytelling became Lisaâs pastime and her lifeline. âI believe I was born to be a songwriter. Even before I had written a song, I knew they were in me.â Lisa Carver became a songwriter from within. Isolated from the public and any musical trends, Lisa created her own characters and unique song books in her headâ¦and the music poured from her heart.

She arrived in Nashville in 1988 with the mission to pursue her destiny. To pay the rent, she became skilled in medial transcription. She eventually married and had children. After work, and putting the kids to bed, she would slip off to pull the characters and stories from her head to give them life in song. The classically trained guitarist has since scored a number of hits and is a frequent special guest performer at the local songwritersâ rooms including Douglas Corner and the Bluebird Café.

Mason Douglas
Mason Douglas, an Arizona native, has made Music City, Tennessee his home. With influences like Radney Foster, Rob Thomas, Chris Isaak and Garth Brooks, his talents attract music lovers of country, acoustic, soul and pop. Douglas has a growing, loyal following on the songwriter circuit and is poised to become one of country musicâs most skillful and sought after tunesmiths. Douglas will donate his portion of the proceeds from the WORDS & MUSIC NASHVILLE project to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Foundation (Lou Gehrigâs Disease). Adroit Records will match his contribution.

Lucas Hoge
Lucas Hoge is one of Nashvilleâs best-kept secrets. He has the knack for delivering songs from a fresh new perspective with a youthful new sound. From Hubell, NE (population 50), his family and the community of Hubell raised $2500 to enable Lucas to make the move to Nashville, Tennessee. The diligent and hard-working songwriter and recording artist has since found his place as a regular performer at world famous, country music venues including the Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner, The Broken Spoke, Hall of Fame Lounge and Tootsieâs Orchid Lounge. He was nominated for âMale Country Singer/Songwriter of the Yearâ for his song âDirtâ (Hollywood Music Awards/Los Angeles Music Awards) and a two-time nominee for âMale Contemporary Christian Singer/Songwriter of the Yearâ for âReign Over Meâ and âGet The Door.â He was also recognized with a nomination for âCountry Album Of The Yearâ for DIRT at the 16th Annual LA Music Awards (2006) and walked away a winner. Lucas also landed the âMale Contemporary Christian Singer/Songwriter Of The Yearâ title for âGet The Doorâ. Toronto Magazine names Lucas as the âBest International Country Artistâ (2008). His contemporary country tunes have also appeared in the television series âSmallville.â

Brendan McKinney
Brendan McKinney is an internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter. Like a masterful work of art that is interpreted from many perspectives, Brendan paints his songs with many different angles in an assortment of colors. Born and raised in Philadelphia, the honest and endearing musician has toured throughout the U.S. and pierced the international music scene with his Americana tunes fused with blues and country. He has traveled throughout Europe and the Scandinavia peninsula performing in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland Germany, Austria and Greece.

Vince Melamed
Vince Melamed is a five-time BMI Million-Performance recipient and award-winning songwriter with a catalog of hit songs that runneth over. Melamed has a long list of hits to his credit including Music Row Magazineâs âSong Of The Yearâ and Billboardâs No. 1 song, âWhat Mattered Mostâ recorded by Ty Herndon. His cut entitled âSheâd Give Anythingâ (recorded by Boy Howdy) landed at No. 3 on the Billboard chart and he received a BMI Million Air Award. Heâs scored hits for Restless Heart (âTell Me What You Dreamâ), which reached #1 on the Billboard AC for three weeks, Tina Turner (âGamesâ) and Phil Vasser (âIâll Take That As A Yesâ), which peaked in the top 10 on R&R, among others. Vince has played, toured and recorded with Jimmy Buffett, the Eaglesâ Hotel California Tour and LIVE album, Bob Dylanâs Knocked Out Loaded Tour and EMPIRE BURLESQUE album. He has also shared the stage as a keyboardist for such notable acts as American soul singer David Ruffin, The Temptations, Dan Fogelberg and Rosanne Cash.

Craig Monday
Not far from home, Craig Monday grew up in Luttrell, Tennessee. An active member of the Nashville songwriting community, Craig has scored cuts for a number of renowned country music artists including: âGot A Little Crazyâ (Kenny Chesney), âThe Power of a Songâ (Vince Gill/Amy Grant/Diamond Rio), âLead Me Homeâ (Jamey Johnson) and âMy Second 16â (Mark Wills). Craig also had two cuts on the LIFETIMES CD recorded and released by Roy Lewis, Earl Scruggs and Lizzy Long. Often taking to the road with just his guitar in hand seeking an audience any place he can find them, Craig is a genuine troubadour.

Joshua Rush
Joshua Rush was surrounded by a musical family. He and his sister sang Gospel hymns regularly at their church and his youth attracted him to rock music. He found his roots in the country genre when he turned up the volume and tuned in to Hank Williams, Sr., Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. His songwriting lends itself to the historic legends that made country music great. While building his repertoire of songs and establishing business relationships that last, Joshua is also a session singer who is garnering attention as a versatile vocalist.

Ray Sisk
Ray Sisk hails from South Carolina. His persistent efforts to establish himself among the industryâs legends are coming full circle. Ray is a role model, mentor and hero to many of Nashvilleâs elite and talented writers. His music is reminiscent of Neal Young, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, the Eagles and Hank Williams, Sr.; his earthy, honest, familiarity commands a quiet attention. Beyond the stage and musical arena, Sisk is talented in yet another art form--the Nashville-based tunesmith enjoys spending his free moments painting and sculpting.

Cheley Tackett
Cheley is from Ohio. Now a fixture on Music Row, she writes with many of Nashvilleâs most notable songwriters and is one of the most powerful, soulful singers in the business. Cheley writes with the deep confidence and total abandon that only a true artist is capable of. She draws her listeners in with comfortable ease and offers each and every one an original and deep personal experience. Cheleyâs songs are simply mesmerizing.

Karleen Watt
Karleen Watt is a natural-born songwriter who pursues her musical dream with singular intensity. The pivotal point in steering Karleenâs direction to pursue her dream came when her mom befriended Joan Baez, and Crook Stewart (Baezâs manager) told the young Karleen, âYou have no right not to share your gift.â From that day forward, Karleenâs talent blossomed. She concentrated on her musical aspirations as a vocal performance student at Florida Community College in Jacksonville, FL. She transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she focused on Media Music and she completed her education studying Music Business at Middle Tennessee State University. Karleen is moved by a diverse group of musicians and recording artists including Garth Brooks, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Joan Baez and Jeffrey Steele, among others. Her emotive vocal technique represents the enormous musical diversity. Reminiscent of a young Dolly Parton, Karleenâs vulnerable lyrics and emotional vocals are magnetic.
