About 5 Star Generals:
We officially became a group in summer 0f 2008. Baserox (aka Base) and Ruckole (aka Ruck) flew out to Philly to visit me, King Kosh. I had been living in Philly for about four years and had been trying to get my patnas (friends) to visit me throughout my entire stay on the east coast. In the summer of 2008 my family and I decided to move back to Oakland, CA. I threw a âGoing back to Caliâ party and these fools (Baserox & Ruckole)finally came to see me. The night they arrived I had a bottle of Skyy Vodka, Ruck pulled out a box of swishers that had pre-rolled purple blunts- and we got on. Straight to the lab and we dropped our first track, âFever for a bunnyâ. Then we recorded âSlap Nastyâ. To sum it all up we had a great time in Philly; partying and recording slappers. A few days after they returned to Da Town (Oakland), I called Ruck up and said âwhat you think bout me you and Base forming a group?â He was with it instantly. He called Base up and fasho you know Base was with it. And so there you have it⦠5 Star Generals in yo FACE! Our sound is very different from the Bay Area hyphy movement sound.
Besides being rap artist we all have different business ventures that we are pursuing such as: fashion/jewelry design, film, youth development, artist development etc
The Lion KingKosh speaks:
Koshen, born in Belize, raised in east Oakland by a single mother with three brothers and a sister. Iâve been involved with hip-hop for 15 years. Hip-Hop to me is like that chic name âSunshineâ in Eddie Murphyâs movie âHarlem Nightsâ. She got my ass whipped, sprung and caught up the panties. I just canât shake this bitch for nothinâ. Iâm so into her that when ever things donât work out in what ever group Iâm in, I always find another project to start. Rap groups Iâve been in include: Syrkal of Souls - Mind, Body & Soul - Famlee Tiez and now 5 Star Generals. Iâve completed and release a couple solo projects as well. I met Baserox and Rockole in Jr. High School (Calvin Simmons). Ruck, Base and I have known each other for about 15 years. I was in a rap group with Ruckole & another homie name Rebel Musik through middle school, high school and most of our adult lives. Baserox always hung around us writing rhymes, hustling and tagging. Ruck and I been running together tuff in this rap shit. He drifted off a couple times back to the street life but he always seem to come right back to her (Hip-Hop). See, we share the same girl with the rest of the world! Ruck, Base and I are all apart of a crew called Da Syrk! We were compared to the Wu-Tang Clan back in the days. Iâve always been the leader/organizer/motivator in every group Iâve ever been in. My style is influenced by Caribbean music & hip-hop music. Iâm a Gemini so itâs very natural for me to switch from conscious music to some raw street shit. I love working with the youth, giving back and motivating them. We created a workshop called Hip-Hop 101 to teach youth about hip-hop history and the entertainment business. Weâve taught this curriculum to schools and after school programs from east Oakland to west Philly.
Ruckafella Cole NthaFlesh spits on you:
Tha Ruck, alias-Ruckafella Cole NthaFlesh!
Oakland native, son of a single mother, 2 brothers & 1 sister
Been rappin for 15 years and Iâm still waiting for my break. I over paid my dues! I feel dues owe me âback payâ, all 15 years worth. In 1993 I first formed a group call Syrkal of Souls aka Da Syrk! It was Kosh, Rebel Musik, and me, Tha Ruck! For many years we rocked shows, battled crews and circulated mix tapes around the Town. Our crew grew bigger because a lot of other young starving MCâs latched on to us. We embraced all of them and encouraged them to keep rappin and leave the street life alone. Eventually word got around and groups & solo artist from all over the Town wanted to be apart of Da Syrk! We always kept a unique sound and brought many styles to the table. But see thatâs old news now and this here is 5 Star Generals! And our music is whopping heads! Sounding like something that hasnât come outta Da Town/Bay!!!
Baserox laces you up:
I baSeâRox, stem from baSek which is my feeling about everything, Itâs so easy to do. Itâs all basic. Just like life, itâs what you make it, you get out what you put in it. I represent the opposite of simple and it comes out in my craft. Born and raised in Oakland Caliâ beast Oakland to be exact. The first born last, my motherâs only one. I been brewing for years I started in the streets hustling at a young age but lost so many peers through the hate of many men, so I felt that it had to be another way. I found my way in music & the arts. I had been a part of The Whut project a rap group that started out as friends just having fun. Which was originated from the outer Syrkal of Souls but was force to depart due to dislikes in music. So there I stood alone, and going hard on features here and there just wasnât enough because I strive for success at everything I do. So I ask myself, what do it take to be number one? So I fell in formation with a group of elite talented craftsmen. So here we stand as The 5star Generals.
